Our Mission
Waldorf International School Copenhagen is a vibrant and inclusive learning community rooted in Waldorf education and a deep understanding of child development. We seek to nurture the intellectual, artistic, practical, social and emotional capacities of each child so they may grow into confident, curious and compassionate human beings who can engage meaningfully with the world.
We believe that education should support the development of the whole child and foster a lifelong love of learning, creativity, responsibility and independent thinking.
Our international profile is inspired by both Waldorf education and the International Baccalaureate (IB), which share important values such as inquiry, intercultural understanding, holistic education and the development of thoughtful and engaged young people.
We achieve our mission by:
- embracing Waldorf education in a contemporary and international context
- fostering curiosity, creativity, initiative and a lifelong love of learning
- integrating intellectual, artistic, practical and social learning

International Baccalaureate
At Waldorf International School Copenhagen, we see meaningful connections between Waldorf education and the values of the International Baccalaureate (IB). Both approaches seek to educate curious, reflective and compassionate young people who are able to engage responsibly with the world around them.
The IB emphasizes inquiry, intercultural understanding, active learning and international-mindedness — values that we believe complement and strengthen our holistic educational approach.
Waldorf International School Copenhagen is a Candidate School* for the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and the Middle Years Programme (MYP). We are pursuing authorization as an IB World School.
IB World Schools share a common philosophy — a commitment to high-quality, challenging and international education that we believe is important for our students and aligned with our educational values.
*Only schools authorized by the IB Organization can offer any of its four academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), the Diploma Programme (DP), or the Career-related Programme (CP). Candidate status gives no guarantee that authorization will be granted. For further information about the IB and its programmes, visit www.ibo.org.
